Christmas in the Solomon Islands
南国のソロモンで迎える２度目のクリスマスでした。
首都ホニアラから約４０km離れたビサレというビレッジに行って来ました。
人口の95％がキリスト教徒のソロモンではクリスマスは一年の中でも最大の日です。
といっても・・電気がない村ではイルミネーションなどないし、ツリーも無いし、豪華なプレゼントも無いし、もちろん雪も無いし
あんまりクリスマスらしい雰囲気はありません。
海で泳ぎ、マンゴーを拾い、ハンモックに揺られ、特に特別な食事ではないけどみんなで食事を囲みいつものような生活。
でもきっと日本に帰ったらこんな生活こそがとっても贅沢に感じるんだろうなと思いました。
I spend Christmas with my friends in Visale which is the
village about 40km from Honiara.
About ninety five percent of the population is
Christian in the Solomon Islands, so Christmas is the biggest event in year.
However they don't have electricity in their village,
so there aren't gorgeous illumination and decorations.
Of course there aren't cake, christmas trees and snow.
I swam, picked many mangoes, slept on the hammock,
ate usual meal with friends.
Everything was usual in here,
but I felt it will be special days
when I went back to Japan.
さてクリスマスイブ
イブの食事。
いつもと変わりません。
野菜とヌードルとココナッツを煮込んだ物。なんだかここで食べるとものすごく美味しく感じるのです。
８時頃から教会へ。たくさんの人が集まっていました。
教会の前ではこのようにイエス降誕の馬小屋の様子の飾りが。
そしてカスタムダンスとともに礼拝が始まりました。
クリスマスキャロルも含めた賛美歌ととに約４時間の長〜〜〜い礼拝でした。
牧師さんの話がとっても長く、途中私はいつものようにこっくりこっくり・・。
でもいつも感じますが教会の中に響き渡る賛美歌はとっても迫力がありとても美しく、感動します。

礼拝後、Happy Christmas!! と言い合ってハグしたり握手したりで終わったのは12時。
12/24 Christmas Eve
this is the first meal in Visale.
local cabbage and instant noodle with coconut milk.
I like it although it's not so nutritious,
and I feel very delicious every time I eat it in there.
Usually they eat it with a lot of rice.
After the dinner we went to the church so that
we attended Christmas Eve service.
This is the decoration which expresses the time
when Jesus was born.
The service was held for 4 hours.
It was so hot and I was so sleepy.
But the Christmas carol was so beautiful and I was impressed.
I want to share the movies with you
after going back to Japan.
クリスマス当日
朝から水浴びをして身体を綺麗にして、とびきりのオシャレをして教会に行きます。
内容はイブとほとんど同じ。歌もほとんど同じ。
やはり私は案の定こっくり、こっくり。。。（だって牧師さんずっと同じ話してる・・・＞＜）
ジェロも退屈そう。
横に座る友達がうちわを必死に扇いでくれたり、
「チロ、あと１０分くらい！」「あと５分！」「もう終わるよ！」
と揺れる私に報告が。
12/25 Christmas
We got up early and washed our bodies
so that we attended the Christmas service.
It was held for 4 hours and very long service as well.
I was about to fall sleep again and again..
My friends tried not to make me fall asleep fanning with the fan.
He seems to be tired like me :)
I remember every time I definitely slept
during the services in my high school.
終わったら水着に着替え海に飛び込み！！
ハンモックでゆらりゆらりして
お母さん達が食事を提供してくれています。
魚のモツ（石の蒸し焼き）、チキンの煮込み、ミンチの炒め物、プディング、クマラなど。
みんなで食べていると、
なんとサンタさんの登場！！！
サンタさん、子ども達にお菓子を配ります。
一気にサンタさんに群がる子ども達。
「ちゃんと列に並ばなきゃあげないよ〜」
サンタさん、裸足！さすが南国です。
そこでサンタさんにインタビュー！
「サンタさん！どこから来たの？」
そこでサンタさん、
「日本から泳いで来たよ！」
みんな大爆笑でした。
After the service we joined the Christmas party.
Mothers provided meals and we ate them together.
While we were eating, Santa Claus appeared with barefoot !
He gave snacks to the children and me as well.
I'm so lucky!
When a man asked him where he came from.
He said 'I swam from Japan'
Oh my god!!
その後はやっぱりまた泳ぎたくなり、海へ飛び込みました。
丁度サンセットの時間、
ソロモンに来てからよく海で泳いでいますが、なんと言ってもこのサンセットの時間帯のシュノーケルが一番好きです。
海の波が無ければ最高です。
シーンとしずかな辺り一面、海が赤く染まり、少しずつ周りが暗くなっていく・・・神秘的で素晴らしい景色です。
その風景を見るたびに遠くにいる家族や友人を思い出します。
After the party I went swimming in the sea.
It was the sanest time.
Fortunately It wasn't rough and
I could see very beautiful view swimming in the sea.
It was so quiet around me and the sun set slowly,
then gradually it got dark.
I love the sanest swimming.
今回私はクリスマスプレゼントに
いらなくなった服・靴・カバン、おもちゃや手作りのアクセサリーなどプレゼントしました。
その中でも古着やカバンなどが一番喜ばれました。
日本人の感覚だと、なんだこんなお古！という感じなのですが、こちらではとても高価な物たち。
大喜びしてくれます。
さっそく服を着てくれました。
いつも彼らと過ごすたびに物の価値ということがよくわからなくなります。
日本の消費社会で過ごして来た私にはかなり大きな衝撃でした。
おしゃれな物、かわいい物、便利な物たくさんあるけれど・・・
ここではボロボロの靴一足が宝物だと言ってくれる。
使い古したカバンを大事そうに抱えて使ってくれる。
一体何が一番必要なものなんだろうか？
自分が今後何にお金をかけるべきなのだろうか？
私は物を得ることではなく、「知識」こそもっとも人生で価値のあることなんじゃないかと、再認識しています。
寄付は一時的なものだけれど、知識は一生持ち続けることができます。
学ぶ機会を得ることができない彼らを見て、無知により病気になってしまうことの不平等さなどを感じます。
だから私はお金を得る事ができたならば学ぶことに投資をしていきたいと強く思います。
そしてそれがどこかの誰かが生きるために大切な「知識」を得る事に還元されるのならばそれほど嬉しいことはないと思っています。
何が言いたいのかわからなくなりましたが、
久々に綺麗な空気を吸い、たくさん泳ぎ、良いクリスマスを過ごしました＾＾
最後に、ビサレで頂いたプレゼント。
私が滞在しているお家に次々とたくさんの方々が来てプレゼントしてくれました。
みんなマンゴー。笑
日本ではこんなに食べられないだろうマンゴー、一生分だと思いありがたく頂きます。
I gave a lot of the old clothes, the old bags,
the toys and the accessories to friends and children
for Christmas gift.
In them they liked the old clothes and the bags.
They changed their clothes to my clothes immediately.
Sometimes I don't know about things of values.
I lived in Japan for long time, which is
in a consumption society.
We can get a lot of stuff in there.
But in here they are happy to get my old stuff
which will not be worth in Japan.
What is the most important thin in my life?
What I should buy?
But I know one thing.
Knowledge is worth a fortune in our life.
Giving somethings is easy but it is not continuous,
but knowledge will continue for long time.
I sometimes see people who can't get the opportunity
to study,
and I think it's not inequality.
Because of ignorance sometimes
people will get illness and unhealthy bodies.
I hope I could invest time and money
for studying not wasteful consumption.
Then I wish I could gave to someone worth knowledge.
I'll be very happy if they would use the knowledge for their life.
And they are the gift from my friends.
I will enjoy mango life everyday!!
